The competition programme regarded the design of a residential settlement in Melaka, Malaysia, for 1,000 inhabitants. Besides meeting the needs of demographic growth, the redevelopment of this area along the river is key for the whole city. The new quarter should meet the most advanced standards about energy efficiency and technology. The project should include areas dedicated to services and recreation and should include the cultivation of mangroves to create a filtering system for the waters of the Melaka River.
