re-design the living areas starting from elementary functions

The chosen area, where the Somme River empties into the Atlantic Ocean, is located near Le Hourdel, a small fishing village in the north of France. In this site, characterised by extreme conditions, the design program includes 10 living units that should re-design the living areas starting from the elementary functions, envisioning original homes, without reproducing stereotypes. The design should be based on the principles of sustainability, which much range from the reduction of energy consumption, to the exploitation of wind for natural cooling and the production of energy; from the recovery of rain water to the use of Structure / Envelope (Str/En) construction techniques.
